Account information

When you create an account, we may collect information including:

Your email address

Your first name or profile name

Your unique account identifier

Account creation and authentication information

Your theatre history

When you use Gloami, you may choose to record information including:

Shows you have seen

Performance dates and venues

Seating information

Who you attended with

How many times you have seen a show

Production type

Ratings and feelings

Shows on your wishlist

Shows you request to be added to Gloami

This information forms part of your private theatre record.

Journal entries and reflections

Gloami allows you to record your thoughts and memories about performances. This may include written journal entries, answers to journalling prompts, free-text reflections and voice notes where a voice feature is available.

Journal content is intended to remain private to your account unless you deliberately choose to export or share it using a feature that explicitly tells you this will happen.

Photos

If you choose to upload photographs, such as a theatre memory or seat-view image, we store those photographs so they can be displayed within your Gloami account.

We only access photographs that you choose to select or provide to Gloami.

Preferences and recommendations

You may tell us about your theatre preferences or rate example shows in order to personalise Gloami.

We may use your preferences, calibration responses, previous theatre activity, wishlist activity and feelings to calculate personalised recommendations and match scores.

These recommendations are intended to help you discover theatre. They do not involve decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.

Notifications and reminders

If you choose to enable notifications, we may process your notification preferences, reminder settings, notification permission status and technical identifiers required to deliver a notification.

You can disable notifications through Gloami or your device settings.

Technical and security information

Our systems and service providers may automatically generate limited technical information needed to operate and protect the service, including device information, IP address, authentication records, timestamps, diagnostic information and security logs.

We do not require precise GPS location information for Gloami's core functionality.

3. How we use your information

We use your personal information to:

Create and manage your Gloami account

Save and synchronise your theatre history

Store and display your journal entries and photographs

Maintain your wishlist and show requests

Personalise the Gloami experience

Calculate show recommendations and match scores

Provide reminders and notifications you have requested

Respond to support enquiries

Maintain the security and reliability of Gloami

Diagnose technical problems

Prevent misuse or unauthorised access

Improve Gloami

Meet our legal and regulatory obligations

We do not sell your personal information. We do not make your private journal entries or theatre history publicly visible through Gloami.

4. Our lawful bases for using your information

Contract

We process information where it is necessary to provide the Gloami service you have requested, including maintaining your account, storing your theatre history and reflections and providing personalised features.

Consent

We may rely on your consent for optional activities where appropriate, including certain notifications or marketing communications. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time.

Legitimate interests

We may process limited information where necessary for our legitimate interests in operating Gloami, keeping the service secure, resolving technical problems, preventing fraud or abuse and understanding and improving the service.

Legal obligation

We may process information where necessary to comply with an obligation imposed on us by law.

5. Sensitive information in journal entries

Gloami is designed as a theatre journal rather than as a service for storing medical, health or other highly sensitive personal information.

Because journal entries contain free text, it is possible to write information that UK data protection law considers particularly sensitive.

We ask users not to deliberately use Gloami to store sensitive information such as detailed medical information, political opinions, religious beliefs, information about sexual life or orientation, or other information classed as special-category personal data.

6. Who we share information with

We only share personal information where reasonably necessary to operate Gloami, provide a feature you have requested or meet a legal obligation.

Supabase

We use Supabase infrastructure for services including database hosting, authentication and file storage. Information stored within your Gloami account may therefore be processed through Supabase systems on our behalf.

Notification providers

Where you enable notifications, technical information necessary to deliver them may be processed by notification infrastructure such as Expo, Apple or Google, depending on your device and the way the notification is delivered.

Apple and Google

If you download Gloami through an app store, Apple or Google may independently process information relating to your app-store account, download or purchase activity under their own privacy policies.

Professional advisers and authorities

We may disclose information where reasonably necessary to comply with the law, respond to a valid legal request, establish or defend legal rights, protect Gloami or our users, or obtain professional legal, accounting or technical advice.

We do not provide your private journal content to advertisers or ticketing companies for advertising purposes.

7. Third-party and affiliate links

Gloami may contain links to theatre venues, productions, ticketing providers or other third-party websites.

If you follow one of these links, the third party will process information according to its own privacy policy.

Some links may be affiliate links. This means Gloami may receive a commission if you subsequently make a purchase, at no additional cost to you.

We do not send your private journal entries to ticket sellers or affiliate partners.

8. International transfers

Some of the technology providers we use may process information outside the United Kingdom.

Where personal information is transferred internationally, we take steps to ensure appropriate protections are used as required by UK data protection law.

9. How long we keep your information

We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably required for the purposes described in this policy.

Your account information, theatre history, journal entries and uploaded content will generally be retained while your account remains active.

If you delete your Gloami account, we will delete or anonymise personal information associated with that account unless we are required or permitted by law to retain particular information.

Residual copies may temporarily remain in system backups according to our service providers' normal backup and deletion cycles.

10. Keeping your information secure

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures designed to protect the information stored within Gloami.

Authenticated account access

Access controls

Database-level access restrictions

Secure transmission of information

Security controls provided by our infrastructure providers

No online service can guarantee absolute security, but protecting users' private theatre records is an important part of how Gloami is designed.

11. Your data protection rights

Depending on the circumstances, UK data protection law may give you rights including the right to:

Ask what personal information we hold about you

Receive a copy of your personal information

Ask us to correct inaccurate information

Ask us to delete your information

Ask us to restrict how certain information is used

Object to certain uses of your information

Withdraw consent where we rely on consent

Request data portability where applicable

To exercise a privacy right, contact info@gloami.app. We may need to verify your identity before completing certain requests.

You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK's data protection regulator.

12. Deleting your Gloami account

You can request deletion of your Gloami account from the account or Settings area within Gloami.

Deleting your account will permanently remove the account and associated personal content from the active Gloami service, subject to any limited information we are legally required to retain.

You may also request account deletion outside the app using the account-deletion facility available through the Gloami website.

Deleting the Gloami app from your phone does not by itself delete your account or data.

13. Children

Gloami is not intended for children under the age of 13.

If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 in circumstances where we are not legally permitted to do so, we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

14. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as Gloami develops or if legal requirements change.

When we make significant changes, we will take reasonable steps to bring them to your attention.

Terms of Use

Last updated: 5 September 2026

These Terms of Use apply when you use the Gloami app, website or related services.

Gloami is operated by HouseLites Ltd, trading as Gloami, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 17354130.

By creating a Gloami account or using Gloami, you agree to these Terms.

1. About Gloami

Gloami is a private theatre journalling and discovery service. It allows users to record their theatre history, create private reflections, save shows, upload memories and receive personalised theatre recommendations.

Gloami is not a ticketing service, theatre producer, venue, critic or official source of production information.

2. Your account

You are responsible for:

Providing accurate account information

Keeping access to your account secure

Not allowing another person to misuse your account

Telling us if you believe your account has been compromised

You must not create an account using another person's identity without their permission.

Gloami is not intended for children under 13.

3. Your theatre journal

Your theatre history, journal entries and other personal reflections are intended to be private to your Gloami account unless a feature clearly tells you that you are choosing to share something.

You retain ownership of content that you create and upload to Gloami, including your journal entries and photographs.

You give HouseLites Ltd limited permission to host, store, process, reproduce and display that content where necessary to operate Gloami for you.

This permission does not give us ownership of your content.

4. Content you upload

You should only upload content that you have the right to use.

You must not knowingly upload content that:

Infringes someone else's copyright, trade mark or other rights

Is unlawful

Contains malicious software or code

Is intended to interfere with Gloami or another user's account

Violates another person's privacy

5. Show information and artwork

Gloami contains information about theatrical works and productions so users can identify, record and discover shows.

Unless specifically stated otherwise, Gloami is not affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by any production, theatre, venue, producer, composer, writer, performer, licensor, publisher, ticketing company or other rights holder.

Show titles, trade marks and associated intellectual-property rights belong to their respective owners.

Artwork created for Gloami is designed for journalling and discovery purposes and should not be interpreted as official production artwork.

6. Show information may change

We try to keep information within Gloami useful and accurate, but theatre changes quickly.

Productions may close, transfer, change venue, alter performance dates, change cast, change ticket availability or otherwise differ from information previously displayed in Gloami.

You should verify important information with the relevant venue, production or ticket provider before making travel arrangements or purchasing tickets.

7. Recommendations and match scores

Gloami may provide personalised recommendations, match percentages or other suggestions based on your preferences and activity.

These are recommendations, not guarantees. A high match score does not guarantee that you will enjoy a show, and a lower score does not mean that you will not. Theatre is subjective. That's part of the point.

8. Third-party websites and ticket links

Gloami may link to external websites including theatre venues, productions and ticketing providers.

We do not control those websites and are not responsible for their availability, content, ticket inventory, pricing, booking process, terms or privacy practices.

Any transaction you make with a third-party provider is between you and that provider.

9. Affiliate links

Some links within Gloami may be affiliate links. This means HouseLites Ltd may receive a commission if you follow a link and subsequently make a qualifying purchase.

Affiliate relationships do not determine your personal journal content or guarantee that Gloami will recommend a particular show.

10. Free and paid features

The core Gloami experience may be provided free of charge.

We may introduce optional premium features, subscriptions or other paid services in the future.

If we do, the applicable price and billing information will be shown before you purchase them.

Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory consumer rights.

11. Acceptable use

You must not use Gloami to:

Break the law

Attempt to gain unauthorised access to another account or system

Interfere with the operation or security of Gloami

Introduce malware or harmful code

Systematically scrape or extract Gloami's database or content without permission

Commercially exploit Gloami's proprietary artwork, branding, software or databases without permission

12. Gloami intellectual property

Except for content owned by users or third-party rights holders, intellectual property associated with Gloami belongs to HouseLites Ltd or its licensors.

This includes, where applicable:

The Gloami name and branding

Original artwork

App design

Written content

Software

Database structure

Original graphics, icons and visual systems

13. Availability of Gloami

We want Gloami to be available and reliable, but we cannot promise that the service will always operate without interruption or error.

We may perform maintenance, fix faults, modify features, add or remove functionality or suspend parts of the service for security or operational reasons.

14. Closing your account

You may stop using Gloami at any time.

You can request permanent deletion of your account through the account or Settings area of the app.

Deleting the app from your device does not automatically delete your Gloami account.

15. Suspending or terminating accounts

We may restrict, suspend or close an account if we reasonably believe these Terms have been seriously or repeatedly breached, the account is being used unlawfully, the account creates a security risk, or we are required to do so by law.

16. Our responsibility to you

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful for us to do so.

If you are using Gloami as a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected.

Gloami is provided primarily as a personal journalling and discovery service. We are not responsible for losses caused by relying on Gloami as an authoritative source of ticket availability, production schedules, travel information or other information that should reasonably be verified with the relevant provider.

17. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms where necessary to reflect changes to Gloami, new features, legal or regulatory requirements, security requirements or changes to how the service operates.

18. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

If you are a consumer living elsewhere, you may also benefit from mandatory rights and protections under the laws that apply where you live.
